On Thursday 1 February we started trading as FSB Insurance Service and to launch the business officially we gathered some key stakeholders in our Croydon Office for a Launch Party. So we put up some bunting and balloons, stocked up on prosecco and buffet sandwiches, and got welcoming our very special guests.
Guests started arriving from shortly before 11:30, and we were thrilled to have the whole team meeting representatives from the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA), FSB, Markel Capital Holdings, Compass London Markets and many more companies who have contributed to the development and growth of Ruskin Square from an idea to FSB’s Insurance Service Provider. As we are part owned by Markel Capital Holdings and FSB, this has been a unique situation and it’s involved a large number of people working together and it was so exciting to have nearly everyone in the same room.
It all kicked off with a speech from our Managing Director, David Perry, who talked briefly about the journey Ruskin Square has been on to get up and running, with special thanks to those who have helped create the company.
We also had speeches from Mike Cherry, the Chairman of FSB, Simon Wilson, MD of Markel National Markets, and Louise Bingham of the Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity. The Rainbow Trust is our chosen charity and it was great to have Louise give a very special speech about the history of the charity and share the good work that the team does for families of terminally ill children.
In fact, we were able to raise £250 in a collection at the launch event simply from having a collection tray available for our guests to donate to if they wished.
Once the speeches were concluded, Mike Cherry officially cut the ribbon (wrapped around the desks of our sales advisers) and declared FSB Insurance Service open.
The new FSB Insurance Service team took advantage of the opportunity to mingle with our visitors and got to know the various people who had helped build the company they were now a part of.
It was really wonderful to have so many friends of Ruskin Square (now FSB Insurance Service!) in one room, and the whole team finished the day feeling energised and excited to get to work.
